Known Dogs From The Harry Potter Series

Here are some of the known dogs from the Harry Potter series.

Fluffy

Fluffy is the three-headed dog that was introduced in the first book/ movie. It served the role of guarding the Philosopher’s Stone. As we found out, Fluffy had a weakness to music and would fall asleep when it heard it. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger were able to sneak past him after utilizing that weakness to music.

Fang

Fang is best-known for being one of the pets of Hagrid. It is a black Boarhound that is oversized. Fang made several appearances in both the books and movies.

Ripper

Ripper is best known for being the pet of  Marjorie Dursley (aka Aunt Marge). It is one of Marge’s twelve bulldogs and the one that she brought with her to the Dursley’s house.

Padfoot (Sirius Black’s Animagi Form)

Sirius Black’s animagi form is a large black dog and he was known as Padfoot. Due to his abilities, Sirius was able to change into a black dog at will.

Ron Weasley’s Patronus

The Patronus of Ron Weasley takes the form of a dog. Specifically, it takes the form of a Jack Russell Terrier. J.K Rowling picked this because she had a Jack Russell Terrier and described it as a sentimental choice. She also described her own Terrier as being “insane”.
