There are many interesting curses in the world of Harry Potter. One of these is Sectumsempra, which slices open whoever is on the receiving end, causing a lot of blood. It was created by Severus Snape and we saw it used in both the books and in the movies. We have put together a quiz about the curse, which will test you on the various uses and history of it.

1) True Or False: Snape created this spell when he was a Professor at Hogwarts
This is false as Snape created this spell when he was still a student at Hogwarts. Harry found the spell in Snape’s old textbook from when he was still a student. This shows how talented of a Wizard that Snape was, even at such a young age.

2) What color of light comes out of your wand when you use the spell?
The answer is white light. We saw this when Harry used it during the Half-Blood Prince movie. You can see white sparks fly from his wand when Harry uses it on Draco Malfoy.
Some might think that it is red because of all the blood that the spell causes but that isn’t the case.
3) True Or False: This is the spell that led to George Weasley losing his ear
This is true as George Weasley lost his ear during the Battle of the Seven Potters. Snape was the person responsible for casting it but it was an accident. He was actually trying to use the spell on a Death Eater in the chaos but he slipped and it hit George.

4) In what location at Hogwarts did Harry Potter use the spell on Draco Malfoy?
Harry used the spell on Draco when they were dueling in the Bathroom at Hogwarts. This came during the Half-Blood Prince. Harry didn’t know how much damage the spell could actually cause and it ended up nearly killing Draco. Luckily, Snape was around and was able to heal Draco before it seriously injured him.
5) True Or False: We see the spell used in one of the first three films
This is false as we don’t see this spell used until later in the series. This makes sense as it is a very dangerous spell, so they wouldn’t want it used near Harry and his classmates when he was so young. They also wouldn’t want students to learn it and use it on one another.
