2) According to Box Office Mojo, this was the 5th highest-grossing movie of 2007. It was behind Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third, Transformers, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

3) According to Box Office Mojo, the movie has grossed $940,018,451 Worldwide (as of 2019).

4) The movie has a 78% rating on the TOMATOMETER on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 250 critical reviews. It also has an 81% audience score based on more than 2 million votes (as of 2019).

5) The movie also currently sits at a 7.5/10 user rating on IMDB with over 460,000 votes (as of 2019).

6) Legendary film critic Roger Ebert gave this movie 2.5/4 stars in his review. This is the lowest-rated movie from Ebert in the entire series.

7) This was the second and final movie in the series that didn’t earn a single Academy Award nomination. The other being Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Some Notes About The Director

8) The movie was directed by David Yates, which was his first of the series. After this, Yates would also go on to direct the final three movies of the series. Yates is also the director of the Fantastic Beasts movies.

9) According to IMDB, Yates makes a cameo near the end of the film in the portrait room.

10) David Yates made the decision to completely cut out any of the quidditch scenes that they had filmed for this movie. In an interview with MTV, Yates said that quidditch was cut from the movie because he wanted to keep things fresh and quidditch had been used in all of the previous films.

11) According to IMDB, Yates’ original draft of the movie was 3 hours long but they ended up cutting it down.

12) It has been reported that Bellatrix Lestrange was originally going to be played by actress Helen McCrory but her pregnancy forced her out of the role. As a result, the role was given to Helena Bonham Carter, who would appear in the final 4 movies. It wasn’t all bad for McCrory though as she was subsequently cast as Narcissa Malfoy in the final three films.

13) According to IMDB, Saoirse Ronan and Juno Temple were considered for the role of Luna Lovegood. Scarlett Byrne also unsuccessfully auditioned for the role but she was later cast as Pansy Parkinson.

14) Evanna Lynch was cast in the role of Luna Lovegood, beating out  15,000 other girls who attended the audition. Lynch also designed herself the radish earrings that Luna wore in the film.

15) During the production of this movie, there were rumors that Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) was considering dropping out for the final few films. In an interview with MTV, Watson confirmed those rumors and said that she wanted to focus on her schoolwork. The production crew ended up reconfiguring the schedule for the Half-Blood Prince to work around her school schedule.

17) JK Rowling admitted in an article on Pottermore that the character of Dolores Umbridge is based on someone who she knew in real life. She described her as a teacher or instructor who she strongly disliked and that person also disliked her too.

18) According to IMDB, Rowling made a last-minute change to the script, insisting that Kreacher was put into the movie. This was in order to avoid any problems with the later movies.
