The Marauder’s consisted of four best friends from Gryffindor: Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and James Potter. These four were the creators of the Marauders Map and were known for getting into trouble together. They were also the best of friends prior to Peter Pettigrew turning on them. James Potter
James Potter is best known for being the father of Harry Potter. He was someone that was very clever and he was known as a talented Wizard. He also had a rebellious side when he was younger and some people considered him to be arrogant and a bully. James and his wife, Lily, were both murdered at the hands of Lord Voldemort. Their son, Harry Potter, went on to become the most famous Wizard in the World and ultimately defeated Lord Voldemort.
James’ nickname in the group was ‘Prongs’. This came as a result of a stag being his Patronus and Animagus forms.
James is played by Adrian Rawlins in several of the Harry Potter movies and he is the actor that is best known for the role. Robbie Jarvis plays a teenaged version of James in the fifth movie. Alfie McIlwain played young James in the final film.
Sirius Black
Like James, Sirius Black was a talented and clever Wizard. He was also rebellious and could be perceived as arrogant. Sirius was best-known for being framed for the betrayal of the Potter family and for various murders that he did not commit. Sirius spent several years in Azkaban prison before he was able to escape. After escaping, he was able to connect with Harry Potter and then became a father-figure to him. Unfortunately, Sirius was murdered by Bellatrix Lestrange during the battle at the department of mysteries.
Sirius’ nickname in the group was ‘Padfoot’. This came as a result of his Animagus form being a black dog.
Sirius is played by Gary Oldman in several of the movies and he is the best-known actor who has portrayed the role. A teenaged version of Sirius is played by James Walters in the fifth movie. In the final movie, a young Sirius is played by Rohan Gotobed.
Remus Lupin
Remus Lupin is probably best known to Potter fans for his time as the Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher during Prisoner of Azkaban. He is someone who is compassionate, smart, peaceful, and brave. Remus also had to deal with Lycanthropy after being bitten by a werewolf as a child. After Remus left Hogwarts, he remained a loyal member of the Order of the Phoenix. Remus and his wife, Nymphadora Tonks, were both killed during the Battle of Hogwarts.
Remus’ nickname in the group was ‘Moony’. This came as a result of him turning into a werewolf during a full moon. His Patronus also took the form of a wolf.
Remus is played by David Thewlis in several of the movies and he is the best-known actor who has portrayed the role. A teenaged version of Remus is played by James Utechin in the fifth movie.
Peter Pettigrew
Peter Pettigrew is best known as being one of the biggest villains in the entire series. Before betraying his friends to Lord Voldemort, Peter was good friends with James, Sirius, and Remus. He was said to be someone who idolized his friends and wanted to surround himself with people who were respected. He ended up turning to the dark side and became one of the biggest reasons why Voldemort was able to go on his reign of terror.
Peter’s nickname in the group was ‘Wormtail’. This came as a result of his Animagus form being a rat.
Peter is played by Timothy Spall in several of the movies and he is the best-known actor who has portrayed the role. A teenaged version of Peter is played by Charles Hughes in the fifth movie.
