Arithmancy is a class that students are able to take when they attend Hogwarts. The class focuses on numbers and their magical properties. It is one of the lesser known classes, as not a lot of students add it to their academic schedules. We have put together an Arithmancy quiz that will test your knowledge. Starting in the third year, students at Hogwarts could take it as an elective class. We know this because Hermione starts taking it in her third year, as noted in the Prisoner Of Azkaban book.
An elective means that it isn’t a mandatory class that students have to take. Hermione is one of the few students who decide to take it. Ron Weasley and Harry Potter did not choose to take it.
2) What was the name of the textbook of the class, which Hermione Granger misplaced?
The text book for the class was called Numerology and Grammatica. Hermione Granger had a copy of the book that she briefly misplaced. This book is also mentioned when Hermione considered taking it with her when they went searching for Horcruxes. She didn’t end up taking it with her but it was mentioned.

Septima Vector was the professor of the class. It was said by a student that she was known to be really strict. She also gave out challenging homework as part of the class. Both of these likely contributed to not a lot of characters from the series wanting to take the class.

This is true as Hermione revealed during the third book that it was her favorite class. This was when Harry noted that the class looked terrible.
