Harry Potter Quote Quiz Results And How They Can Apply To You

Here are all of the quotes that we included on our Harry Potter quotes quiz. We have also included how they can apply and inspire you in your daily life.

1) “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends”

This was said by Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Dumbledore awarded Neville Longbottom and Gryffindor 10 points at the end of the school year. This was because Neville tried to stop Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger from getting in trouble and costing Gryffindor points in the House Cup. Even though they were his friends, Neville tried to do the right thing. It takes courage to speak up to your friends if you think that they are doing something wrong. Neville’s courage can also apply to your daily life. If you feel like one of your friends is making poor decisions, let them know instead of standing idle. Sometimes the truth can hurt but at least you tried to help.

2) “We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on…that’s who we really are”

This was said by Sirius Black during Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix. This came when Harry Potter was doubting himself and wondering if he could become evil. Sirius comforted Harry by telling him that he is a good person who bad things have happened to. Sirius’ words here can also apply to your life. You may have had a terrible childhood or had bad things happen to you. Those things do not define who you are as a person. There is still good inside of you and all you can do is choose to act upon that light.

3) “No good sittin’ worryin’ about’ it. What’s comin’ will come, an’ we’ll meet it when it does.”

This was said by Hagrid during Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Hagrid was trying to provide some reassurance to Harry, Ron, and Hermione after Voldemort had returned. Hagrid’s quote here can also apply to your life. There is no sense sitting around and worrying about bad things that could happen. We have to face issues when they come to us, instead of always living in fear. Stop worrying so much about the bad things that could happen to you and focus on the present.

4) “You sort of start thinking anything’s possible if you’ve got enough nerve”

This was said by Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The context behind it is that Harry was upset that Professor Umbridge was watching the fireplaces, which made it difficult for him to contact Sirius. Ginny tells Harry that if she really wants to talk to him, they will find a way. She learned this from growing up with Fred & George, who were always able to get things done. Ginny’s quote here can also apply to your life. If you are around positive people who tell you and show you that anything is possible, you will also take on that attitude. If you are always around negative people who shut things down, you will likely take on that attitude. Choose who you spend your time with wisely and don’t be brought down by negative people.

5) “Working hard is important. But there is something that matters more: believing in yourself.”

This was said by Harry in the Order of the Phoenix. This was when Harry was teaching Dumbledore’s Army spells and helping them work on their skills. He also mentioned that every great witch and wizard started off like them at some point and had to learn. I think that this quote is great and can apply to your real life. Working hard is something that is obviously valuable but the x-factor can be having belief in yourself. Combine those two things and you will be unstoppable in anything you do.

6) “Thoughts could leave deeper scars than almost anything else.”

This quote is attributed to Madam Pomfrey (via Ron Weasley) in the Order of the Phoenix. This comes while Ron is in the Hospital Wing following the battle of the Department of Mysteries. I really like this quote and think that it is something that can relate to mental health. Sometimes our minds can race and we think of 1000 things that could go wrong in a specific situation. These negative thoughts can leave scars that are difficult to overcome. Sometimes, our minds race to the bad things that could happen in a situation that leads to us not trying or giving up. In reality, the thing that you are worried about probably won’t happen or wouldn’t be a big deal even if it did. Don’t limit yourself by jumping to the worst-case scenarios. Try to focus on the positive things that could happen, which will help you push through.

7) “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”

This was said by Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The context was that Harry was seeing the family that he always wanted in the Mirror of Erised. Dumbledore was reminding him to not dwell so much on the past and try to live in the moment. You can never go back but you can move forward. Dumbledore’s quote can also apply to your life. Don’t spend all of your time thinking about the glory days when you were in college or other things that happened in the past. Also, don’t get too caught up in thinking about the future that you forget about the present. Live each day as if it is your last as it very well could be.

8) “We are all human, aren’t we? Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving.”

This was said by Kingsley Shacklebolt in The Deathly Hallows. This was when Shacklebolt was running to become Minister for Magic. There is obvious racism depicted in the Harry Potter series, specifically with the ‘Purebloods’ and the ‘Mudbloods’. This is a really relevant quote, especially in the World that we live in today. Every human life is worth the same and worth saving. It doesn’t matter where you were born or what you look like. We are all human and worth saving.

9) “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

This was said by Sirius Black in Goblet of Fire. The context was that Hermione was upset with how Bartemius Crouch treated a house elf. Sirius responded by saying that it shows a character flaw in Crouch that he would treat somebody like that. This quote can also apply to your life. It is easy to be kind to your friends but how do you treat those who are struggling? Do you crack jokes about homeless people or those struggling with addiction? If so, that tells us more about you than anything else. Treat everybody with respect and kindness, no matter who they are.

10) “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

This was said by Dumbledore in Prisoner of Azkaban. This is a really powerful quote that I think can help people who are dealing with difficult times or depression. You have to realize that you own your happiness and only you have the power to dig yourself out of the darkness. Try to hold onto the positive things in your life instead of dwelling on the negative. Try to remember why you are doing what you are doing. It will only help you find the light.
